So, you have decided to explore the wonderful world of network marketing and are a new kid on the block
Well, congrats on being of the right mindset and understanding the value of our industry!
Now, you are probably asking the question, “so where do I go from here?” Well, I know how you feel because I was new to the network marketing industry about 17 years ago and felt the same way. I got involved with several companies in my early 20′s, got excited, and then was left to fend for myself.
My sponsor got me all hyped up on the company, it’s products and the opportunity to make a massive fortune. The Mansions, sports cars, yachts, etc! Then, once I bought the products I was told to just go out and sell them to my friends and family.
So I did! Then after all of my friends and family either bought some products out of sympathy for me begging them or outright rejected me for being in a “pyramid” or “scam”, I got discouraged and simply stopped talking to anyone about my business.
I would go out to the weekly meetings hoping that one of the 30 or so friends that I invited by emailed or phone message would finally show up and jump right into my business once they saw how GREAT it was!
But, alas, week in and week out, I was faced with the same question from my sponsor and other reps, “Any guests coming tonight?”
I got real good at creating new stories as to how the 1 or 2 guests I had coming each time, had canceled at the last minute or simply just stood me up!
So, after suffering for a period of time with one company, I would bounce to the next because the last company I was with simply “just didn’t work!” At least, that’s what I told myself. I would have high hopes that my outcome in this NEXT company would be different because my friends and family would finally dig this one.
The problem wasn’t the company or the companies products! ACTUALLY, a couple of those companies have done really well and are house-hold names today. I started to think that maybe the problem was me and that I just wasn’t any good or cut out for network marketing!!
So, after a 10 year break from the network marketing industry, swearing off any company that came my way during that time like it was the plague, I finally let my guard down again and I am so happy I did! This time I finally learned the TRUTH for my FAILURE in network marketing.
I NEVER GOT TRAINED!!!!!
I realized this when I looked at my current company just out of respect for my good friend because I knew “how hard it was to get people out to take a look” as I told her on the car ride over to the presentation.
But, WAIT A MINUTE!! It wasn’t hard for her to get me out. She simply applied the skills of INVITING she learned through the company and PRESTO, she had a very ANTI network marketing person looking at her company
This opened my eyes to the importance of being with a company that has a solid training program backed by a track record of success.
Once I realized that this companies director of training took a company to #1 on the INC 500 list my eyes and ears were wide open.
So, the moral of my story is that if you are new to network marketing or are already with a company, make sure you are with a company that will provide you with the proper training and support to help you become successful……THIS IS CRUCIAL!
Most network marketing companies provide training on traditional recruiting methods but fall short in training on “attraction marketing” principles and internet marketing.
